Narrative Photographer vs AI Art

I recently went head to head with an AI Art platform called Midjourney to see who could create better portraits of Azteca/Mexica dancers. It was a fascinating experiment, and honestly, I was blown away by how good the AI’s work was. We both had to create two different concepts, and in the end, it was a pretty close call. The AI had a few advantages, like not having to worry about finding specific locations or dealing with wind, but I still managed to hold my own.

AI as Creators

It’s a little unnerving to think about how generative AI tools like Midjourney are getting so good at creating art. They are not just tools to help create; they are entirely new creators. However, there is a silver lining. I will keep making art because it brings me joy. Additionally, AI-generated art could change society in ways we can’t even imagine yet.
